Gaza - Infopal. A new Israeli crime has taken place today in the center of the Gaza Strip: the occupation forces have flooded the towns of al-Hajar Mighraqa and ad-Dik in the central and western areas of the Gaza Strip under siege, and, after opening the dam Wadi Gaza, without notice, have resulted in a flood.
Our correspondent reported that dozens of homes been flooded, causing the displacement of hundreds of people and severe damage to homes and the same fields.
Civil Protection was able to rescue 60 people stranded at al-Mighraqa.
In a telephone connection with our correspondent, the director of Civil Protection, Yussef al-Zahar, talked about the rescue operations and evacuation of several homes. It stressed that the water level is rising and that this represents a threat to public safety.
The Ministry of Social Affairs, in collaboration with the municipalities, have decided to use the schools to accommodate displaced persons and are committed to provide food, blankets and clothes.
Al-Zahar said that the Israeli occupation forces have announced plans to open another dam overlooking the same valley.
The dam of Wadi (valley, ed) Gaza was built decades ago by the occupation forces, in order to deprive the strip of water that filled the valley during the winter.
Yesterday, they opened without warning, as a result of floods in southern Israel.
"So - say in Gaza - occupants get two results: to protect themselves from flooding, flood the Gaza Strip and to increase the suffering of the Palestinian people under siege." Truly a great demonstration of civilization.
